deformed hen
I have only noticed this now the weather is better and im in the garden more, pearl my light sussex has one leg bigger than the other which has extra toes on it,plus her comb is nearly non existant, its sort of mashed up and not as a normal one should be,she is also very noisy ! I assume she is ok ? she does lay occasionally but tends to go broody quite often where she pecks me when i move her off the others eggs.

Re: deformed hen
How peculiar! Is she moulting at the moment as well as being broody?
A broody hen can sometimes develop a droopy, shriveled up comb but it's more common among hens who are going through a moult.
If the comb is darker, this could be a sign that she is unwell. Can you post a picture of her so we can see what her comb is like?

Re: deformed hen
No she isnt moulting and the comb has been like it since i got her,she is very different to the others. The others wil squat down if you go near them so i can stroke/pick them up but not pearl, you go near her and she runs away ! I will try and take some pictures today if i get time so you can see for yourself.
