[b]Hi i have just joined this site and hope for lots of useful info.
I live in Aistria in the Tyrol, and have recently become the mother /owner of 6 lovely hens.
3 brown and 3 white.
Dont ask me what sort they are cos the farmer I bought them from does not speak English!!
The first day after I got them I had 2 eggs!!
And I am now getting 5 or 6 per day.
They seem to eat a huge amount of spaggeti and layers mash, so I would appreciate it if someone was to give me approx amounts that they SHOULD be eating.
They have a large run on our land and a secure coop to cuddle up in at night.
The main predators here are MARDA. Thats a Pine Marten to you and me, and so I have to be dilligent at locking them up at night.

Hiya Berniepage! Welcome to the forum! bounce

Chickens tend to be able to gauge the amounts they should eat, just make sure that they are getting their fill of layers mash before dishing out the treats. This will ensure that they are getting all the essential nutrients without filling up on the spaghetti etc.

We'd like to see some pics too of your girls!!

Thanks for that. i mix layers mash in with the spagetti, but if i put too much in they just leave it and eat the spagetti!!
the brown girls are very very tame, but the white ladies are much more skittish!
i will get the camera out and take some pics, if it ever stops raining here.
very unusual for austria, its normally blisteringly hot in the summer here.
