Hen has swollen eye Help Please!!!

Post  Dave1300gls on Tue Mar 11, 2014 1:14 pm

Hi there my name is Dave and I am a newbie on here.  We have had 3x hens for about a year now a Coral, Copper Black and a Columbian Black tail.  The first two lay all the time, the last one infrequently and small eggs at that!  But that is not the problem, all has been going well until a week ago our black tail got a swollen eye, so we started swilling her eye with saline three times a day and although her eye has not got any worse she seems to be getting more sleepy and not eating!!  She has no other symptoms, no bubbling of the eye or puss, no sneezing or respiratory problems, or feathers looking ruffled or indeed anything else. She just tries to scratch her eye and gets sleepier and sleepier. Here is a picture, to me it looks like a foreign body but with no amount of saline flushing can we make a difference. Any help please we are getting desperate!!" />

I have put a small blue arrow next to the lump.

Kind Regards
Dave
