henhouse temperature ?

Post  fishfarmer on Mon Sep 22, 2014 10:50 am

well after trawling thru the 'merican'websites where they seem to have extremes of everything, weather, predation etc .I just needed confirmation that ive done enough for the boy and girls to be happy in there henhouse this winter?.I built a 6ftx12ftx6ft high coop, larch lap panels lined with sterling board and ply wood floor. The floor generally has sawdust and straw strewn up to 6" deep. There is a 4" ventilation gap front and back under roofboards, a window front and back and a stabledoor(the bottom door open allday) which leads out onto a 40ft x16ft enclosure,,phew! longwinded description:lol: now down here we rarely get it too bad for frost, mainly wet nd windy, last year -5 happened for about 1 week,is there any advice on further improvements or will we be ok,got big RIR cock 6x RIR hens & 2 lehmans. have heard heatlight might keep em layin longer..?
